Day Of A Seafarer

A dawn-to-dusk portrait of life at sea. Original score built around a single repeated cell, expanding into a full ensemble over three minutes. Recorded live with a quartet, a drum kit, hydrophones and an analog synth section.

Concept

The film follows a single sailor from 5:40am to the last light on the horizon. The score had to do the same — start with breath and wave, build to something close to euphoria, then exhale. We wrote it as one continuous take.

Recording

Two sessions at Circuit: a string quartet day, then a rhythm day with kit, bass and Juno-60. Hydrophones captured the sea itself for textural beds. The arrangement is loose on purpose — every section drops in and out without warning, mirroring the sailor's own pacing.

Mix

Mixed in stereo with binaural and immersive variants for in-cabin playback. Final loudness profiled separately for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and broadcast.
